1962 ALFA ROMEO GIULIETTA SPRINT
A most stylish 101 series Sprint normale with a new interior.
Currently under preparation.
Our Giulietta Sprint was built on 29/01/1962 (per museo Alfa Romeo letter in the history file) and delivered to it’s first owner in Genoa on 13.04.1962.
The original colour was Azzuro Iseo, which it is still painted in today. This is a largely unrestored car with we believe only two owners from new. Recently our car has had a new interior fitted using original materials, and other works.
The Alfa is sold NOVA cleared with Italian papers but can be registered in the UK with an age related registration should the new owner desire.
Our car has an older repaint in the very cool original blue. There are no rust bubbles but there are marks on most panels, consistent with an older repaint, but as you can see, it polishes up well. The chassis appears rust and accident free, and the boot floor has been replaced recently.
Glass is all good with some minor abrasions to the passenger door glass. External trim is 100% complete and generally nice. The bumpers are new, as are the hub caps and the wheels have been refurbished. The cabin sealing rubbers have been replaced. Panel fitment and gaps are good for the model.
Our car has had an engine transplant and a 1300 Giulia engine is fitted. This unit is whisper quiet and the gearbox is sweet. Oil pressure is excellent. The tyres have plenty of tread and the Alfa brakes well, the exhaust is recent and the battery is new (fitted with an isolator). Air ducting is new and the car has recently had a lubrication service with new hoses and other remedial works. A period performance air cleaner is fitted and the engine bay presentation is very smart.
This has been completely restored at a cost of £6000. New headlining, carpets, upholstery, door cards and sealing rubbers, all per original fitment. The dashboard is undamaged and this is an evocative place to sit.
The boot floor is new (£1700) and complete with original rubber mat, jack and spare wheel.
A charming original Sprint in arguably the nicest colour for the model. It’s not a perfect show pony but neither is it £60,000 – real value at the price suggested.
