History of this Car

Our 4.2 litre engined Quattroporte, fitted with a 5 speed ZF manual gearbox was manufactured in October 1966 and supplied new to Switzerland on 17/10/1966, finished in Beige metalizzato with a Marrone Connolly leather interior, the same combination it wears today. This is the Tipo 107A model, or Series 2, of which 253 cars were made.

The Maserati found its way to Italy in 1972 and was registered in Milan, moving to Modena in 1980 and having 3 owners in Italy until importation to the UK in 2006; since then, it has had just two owners here.

Running well upon importation, much mechanical and body improvement have been carried out over the years and this car has seen a lot of regular, reliable use. It has also been road tested by Classic & Sportscar magazine and has been used by Maserati UK in 2008 and 2011 at the London Motorshow recreation at the Goodwood Revival.

Simply put, this is one of the very best examples anywhere combining a superb engine with unmarked paintwork and an incredible original interior.

Bodywork

Previously painted once in the 1980s, the paint had aged in places so was repainted in 2020 in the original colour. The paint today is magnificent with a highly polished shine and panel fitment which is spot-on. All panels and screens were removed in the painting process, and new outer sills fabricated. All new body rubbers were applied. The works are photo documented and receipted.

All glass and lenses are generally excellent and are all original; the bumpers are without damage and the chrome trim has some patina, the decision being made when it was repainted to leave some age to the presentation, congruent with the originality of the interior.

Mechanicals

You are encouraged to look at the stance of other Quattroporte examples and compare to this one: very few have the correct type (and very expensive) Pirelli CN72 tyres fitted and even fewer have had the front suspension work this one has had; most of the cars you see are nose heavy.

With a rebuilt engine this car goes like the wind and we reckon the experience is as close as you’ll get to what it was like new.  A detailed log of works is in the history file that accompanies the car, summarised here:
