1971 ALFA ROMEO 1750 GTV
Exceptionally original UK RHD 2nd series 1750GTV, 1 owner for 50 years!
History of this car
Our car was registered new to UK specifications on 15.1.1971 to a plastic surgeon working as a consultant to the British army in Cyprus (Cypriot logbook on file). The long term owner purchased the Alfa in 1972 when the surgeon exported the Alfa to the UK on 13/4/1972.
The previous owner cherished this superb Alfa to an extraordinary degree so today it represents as a true time warp with original paint, body and interior. Finding one of these cars that’s lived in the UK and not been welded is extremely rare; this preservation is due to a thorough programme of cavity and chassis rust proofing from the early years, together with covering of seats and carpets.
Initial servicing as stamped in the service book was by Alfa dealers Demades & Son in Cyprus and Alford & Adler and Roger Clark (Cars) Ltd in the UK until 1973 when the owner continued the servicing at home, always logging works in the service booklets.
Careful usage and diligent care shows today in a superb tight driving example that feels right in every department, benefitting from much fresh pre-sale works.
Recorded mileage is 81,000, which is the warranted genuine mileage from new and supported by a raft of expired MOTs and other supporting documents.
Body
The incredible body on this example is finished in the achingly cool and period Beige Cava, the majority of the paint is the original, with some touch ups and blow-ins here and there, presenting today with an irreplaceable patina of age. UK market Alfa Romeos of this period with original paintwork you simply never see, and this example might be unique. Every cavity is dripping in Dinitrol which has been periodically re-applied; even the outer sills have Dinitrol bungs witnessing the almost obsessive level of rust proofing this Alfa has enjoyed.
Shut lines and panel fitment is as per factory and cannot be bettered; if you value body integrity, originality and authenticity, this is your car.

This car is very special to drive. The engine, which has never been apart – has factory oil pressure and is in rude good health delivering punchy performance allied to a slick gearbox and taut suspension. Road tested in 2018 by Classic Cars magazine, they were effusive in their praise for the way this Alfa drives.
Interior
Our car has a terrific original interior with of course the amazing seats this model is equipped with; it has been fitted with seat and carpet covers from new so everything is beautifully preserved. The switchgear is tight and even the windows work with a well oiled precision.
Boot
Original in every way and pretty much like new. The fuel tank even has the factory dating stencil still applied, the spare wheel still has the factory check markings, with the paint code decal still on the boot lid. Original jack and tool roll in place.
Summary
This 1750GTV has no modifications or restoration whatsoever and is as close as you’ll get to a new one in 1971. Supplied with all the delivery books and pamphlets and a large history file. A remarkable specimen and highly recommended!
