1972 LANCIA FULVIA 1600HF

Good, very original UK RHD example, rebuilt engine and comprehensive history.

We are selling this car on behalf of a customer.

About this car

A rare tipo 818.741 model (believed only 400 RHD made out of 3670 total 1600HF production), our Lancia was registered new on 15/05/1972 to a Mr Mosley of Winchester. Well known to the Lancia Motor Club (with previous club concours award to its credit), our HF had a photo documented bare metal repaint in the original colour in 1990, and today presents with a good patina.

Many examples of this model have been heavily modified or have been allowed to deteriorate but this car remains in pleasingly original condition, having been enthusiast owned and carefully looked after from new, witness the very large history file detailing ownership, MOTs from 1978 and copious expenditure with well known specialists; even classified sale ads for the car have been retained.

Deviations from standard specification are limited to a 2000HF wood rimmed steering wheel (although the original accompanies the car), electric fuel pump and regulator, electronic ignition, inertia reel seat belts and a later stereo (concealed in the glove box) with electric aerial.

The recorded mileage of 19,000 (119,000 actual) is warranted as genuine from new.

Bodywork

The body on our car is good and straight with decent panel fitment. The Bianco Saratoga paint job is an older application in the original colour with various touched in areas over the years. It polishes up well with an even shine although there are some imperfections consistent with the age of the paint (35 years).

All stainless trim is in in very good condition, as is the glass and lenses. The Cromodora alloy wheels have recently been refinished and are unmarked.

The chassis appears rust and accident free, with a protective undercoating throughout.

Mechanicals

Our car is still running in after a £12,000 engine rebuild of the correct 818.540 numbered motor in 2018 with new pistons, valves, main bearings, timing chain, a carburetor overhaul, a new fan, hoses, leads and the refurbishment of the subframe including removal and repainting.

Not many miles have been recorded since the tyres and exhaust were also replaced, and much other recent maintenance is in evidence, with a £1000 re-commissioning service from marque specialist Richard Thorne in February 2025.

Interior

This shows careful ownership. The seating and door cards appear original and are in good condition, ditto the uncracked dashtop; the wooden fascia has been replaced and is in mint condition, with sharply presented and unfaded gauges. The headlining is excellent and the carpeting OK with some wear. Inertia reel seat belts are fitted.

Boot

Very clean with the right Battaini jack, toolkit, spare wheel with cover.

Summary

Any HF Fulvia is a special car and in white we think they look particularly cool. Genuine UK cars come up rarely and this one is priced very competitively given the superb history. Supplied with an owner’s manual, tailored car cover and two sets of keys.
