Ferruccio’s favourite Lambo! Desirable and rare RHD project vintage Lamborghini.

About this car

This is a very rare Lamborghini: a Jarama S, of which only 150 were made, and of those only 18 it is believed in RHD.

The “S” model features body, wheel and engine tweaks over the previous model, with 365hp claimed from the 4 litre V12 motor. Usefully, it also features power steering as standard. Ferruccio Lamborghini is on record as saying this model was his favourite, being the perfect compromise between the Miura and the Espada.

Our car was originally supplied on 18/08/1973 in the brochure colour of Tahiti blue, perhaps the nicest colour for the model. At some point in the 1980s it was repainted to white, the colour it wears today. This Jarama has a detailed service history until it was taken off the road in 1990, evidencing both engine and body rebuilds.

Supplied to the previous owner of 37 years by the Italian Car Centre in 1988 for £11,250, after enjoying the car for a few years, the owner, who ran a body shop, was going to return the car to the delivery colour and took it off the road but, as sometimes happens, life got in the way and it was never completed.

Today it presents as an excellent and substantially complete project vehicle to either return to the original delivery colour, or a canvas to make a Jarama “Bob” emulating the one off orange and black special that lead factory engineer Bob Wallace made in the day.

Bodywork

The body of this car is pretty straight with some rust issues, mainly to the shoulders of the rear wings. There is also some structural rust to contend with to the floors and outriggers.

The glass and stainless trims are all good, the headlights and some rubber gaskets have been removed but are included in the sale. Missing body parts that we can identify are the front indicators, side lights and spot lights.

Mechanicals

We have had this Jarama running from a remote fuel supply; it started readily and shows good oil pressure and doesn’t smoke unduly. See video.

Obviously it will all need a proper going through before returning to the road.

The engine room is very tidy given the length of time it has been dormant and the car appears complete mechanically.

Interior

This features the original and very cool trim with velour and leather seating in good condition. The carpets are missing, as is the transmission tunnel trim but everything else seems present and correct, down to the roof mounted radio!

Summary

These cars rarely surface, in any condition – a very rare opportunity!
